New Ground Landscapes

Gold at Chelsea – two years in a row

Adam Frost, associate designer at New Ground Landscapes, has scooped his second highly-prized gold medal in just two years at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (20-24 May 2008). Not only has he received gold this year, but he has also been awarded ‘Best urban garden’ – the ultimate triumph for a garden in his category.

The garden, ‘A Welcome Sight’, is designed for an urban couple who not only want a beautiful garden but one that also contributes visually and environmentally to the surrounding area. Featuring two running water rills, shrub and perennial planting, different levels of paths, a seating area and imaginative water feature by the front door, this space has everything homeowners may want from their front garden.

Adam says: ‘It may sound like a cliché, but I really can’t believe we have got gold again and best urban garden. I am really proud of the design, the way our contractors at New Ground Landscapes built it, and the response from the public. It was never intended to break design boundaries – but what it was to do, and has succeeded, is show people just how important their front garden is. I hope that it gives people inspiration to change their front garden to be a space of shared beauty and personal pride.’
